WEEK 10 PICKS

Is it really week 10 already? Only 4 lovely Gopher Saturdays left this year...followed by the best New Year's Day in my lifetime.

Here's what the experts are thinking this week:

MR and MK go against each other tonight...MR with the DOG CINCY club, MK with USF. I'm reallt torn on this game. USF is the better team, CIN is a home Thursday Dog - hmmm, tough call. I lean USF.

MK goes against JG with WV and UCONN. Once again, WV is the better team...but UCONN is close and a home dog - always dangerous.

MR likes Sparty to not let down against a brutal Badger team. Scary time again for Sparty...I still am picking them to roll over Becky.

3 of us love the Gophers - all but JG. Preview below.

JR and JG took VIR as a home dog. MK of course loves MIAMI. VIR is way too hot to bet against right now, especially as a home dog.

MK took AF at ARMY. AF typically rolls Army, but they are showing signs of life this year. But I still like AF.

JR and JG both like MICH at PUR. I think the PUR defense is bad enough and the offense is inept enough to continue the losing ways for Tiller's farewell.

JR and MR both like MIZZOU. This team has the pressure off and will continue to score in bunches.

JG took KAN at home, I'm a little scared on this one. I think State might cover, they have played better lately.

I like KENT at BGSU. BGSU doesn't cover at home...ever. And Kent is coming off a shocking win LW.

I LOVE A&M at home against COL this week. Two teams trending opposite directions, I think I'll label this one as the dreaded LOCK OF THE WEEK.

JG took PITT, MR took ND. This is a tough one to call. I like ND at home, PITT showed too much vulnerability LW for me by giving up 54 to RUT.

MK likes FRESNO at LT as a 5 pt FAV. I am leaning LT on this one - FRESNO is kind of checked out and has played close games every week lately.

JR took CAL at home over ORE. Toss up game - take the home team.

JR also took GT at +2 over FSU. I think Tech is a better team - although the Noles are much improved.

MK likes the GATORS, JG and MR like the DOGS. This should be a classic. Game of the year for me thus far. I think 5.5 is too much, could go either way, but gun to the head I take GEO.

MR likes Wake -7 hosting DUKE. Typically this should be a no-brainer, but with DUKE's ability to score, and Wake's inability to score...I like the Devils to cover.

JG picked the Clones! Not against the Clones, he went for the Clones. I hope OKST wins by 50 just to spite him for breaking tradition.

All 3 of you like ILLINOIS hosting IOWA. These 2 teams are very tough to figure out. I really hope the ILLINI cruise, but I think I'm taking IOWA to win this one.

JG likes the Mormons of Brigham to cover 14 at CSU. I think this is a good pick.

MR caved and took the Trojans at an astounding -43! Washington is bad, and probably won't score a point. The Trojans are looking for style points and may win this one by 75-80.

JG also took the hated HUSKERS this week to cover 21 at OK. I think OK makes another statement this week by winning by 40+.

MR and MK like TTECH over the #1 ranked Horns. I hate to go against ROE in a big game, but I think the Horns win again. Their defense is still pretty good, and I really don't think Tech can stop the run or pass in this one. Texas D and running game win it for them...52-38.

JR likes the Owls of Rice...I love obscure picks because I don't have to agonize through watching them!

Finally, JR loves OREST! MK likes AZST. I think this is a blowout in favor of the Beavers.

GOPHERS hosting NW
Well, we're 7-1 with 4 to play. Unreal. NW may have started their inevitable collapse a week earlier than expected by losing to IND LW. After us, they have OSU, MICH, ILL...ouch! The facts are this - NW is missing their star RB, QB, and MLB for this game. They just lost to an awful IND team that is much worse at this point than when we played them and they were still thinking they actually had a chance in 08. The Gophers come in riding a 3 game winning streak and being completely carried by their defense. In a perfect world, the offense would finally come out of their shell and give the defense a week off...but I don't think that will happen. NW actually plays defense this year too (hmmm...better D = more wins, interesting) and we may come out a little tight due to a lot of people looking past this one and ahead to the next 3 Big Ones. I expect this to be a very close 1st half...I'd say a 10-7 game at half one way or the other. In the 2nd half, the Gophers will get a spark by a big play from a WR (Green again?) and fire up the dome. 2 NW turnovers later it will be 24-10 Gophers before NW knows what hit them. That's when the doubt will creep into the Wildcats minds and this one will become kind of a laugher. The offense will still sputter enough to be a concern, but a convincing Gopher win will feel good...we move to 8-1 after a 31-20 victory!! Rah, rah, rah for Ski-u-mah! 3 GINORMOUS games to go for the 8-1 Gophers...I can't F*cking wait!!

On to the league that I care zero about right now...honestly, with the Wolves, Wild, and the Gopher hockey and hoops teams looking nice - the Vikes have become about .5% of my sports thinking the last week or two. This week is a must win, but I'm scared that it might not happen...should I be scared or excited though, because an avalanche of losses (which is for sure if we lose this week) would likely get rid of the Chilly, which would make TREE happy.

Our picks:
I like the Titans...I think I'll keep picking them until they lose.

JG took TB...look like Ty Thigpen is hitting his stride, look out Bucs D.

JG likes BAL, JR and MK like CLE. I just feel like the Browns figured it out and are ready to win a few in a row.

MR likes the Bears. The Lions are bad...I mean really bad.

JR and MR likes the Bills - my favorite play of the week.

JG took the JAGS at -7...tough pick, they never beat anyone by more than 7 so I'll bet heavy on a push here.

MR took the TEXANS at the dome, MK holds out hope and picks the Purple.

MR and MK agree on picking the RAMS over the CARDS.

MK picks DEN...I think KOBS likes DEN every week.

JG took ATL at OAK. Definitely a better team, but a scary road trip.

JR took the G-MEN. I hate the hook, but maybe the Giants go for 2 to win by 8?!?

JG makes a nice pick with PHIL at SEA.

JR likes NE getting points against INDY.

MR and MK agree again on PITT at WASH on Monday night.

PURPLE HAZE
I'm really not sure what to think this week about this club. We seem to be a better team, but I'm not 100% sure on that. HOU plays horrible D, but can we really take advantage of that? I'm betting no. They have a nice offense that throws it well and runs it at times...we probably stop the run this week, but who covers Andre?!? Scary trap game for the Purple...but they do play better at home so I'm calling for a rarity...a win but no cover. VIKES 24 HOU 21.

That's all for this week. If the Gophers continue winning, I might just make this update 2000 words on how much I love the Gophers...or is that what it is already?

Hope everyone is doing well - have a great weekend. Keep in mind next weekend - JG is in for late Saturday, but haven't heard from Mike & Mike yet. If you're around, we should hook up to celebrate getting back the JUG!! Optimistic, yes...realistic, yes...likely, yep. We'll be TD or better favorites over MICH!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!

WEEK 9 RESULTS

Week 9 is in the books...2 wins in a row for JR. "Nothin's gonna stop us now..."

The Gophers are 7-1. We just won back to back B10 road games. This is just getting ridiculous. I'll discuss this later, but first the results:

RECORDS FOR WK9
JR 9-6
JG 8-7
MR 5-9 (has a Monday night pick to go)
MK 5-10

Overall, I went a retarded 20-30 on college picks this week. Ouch. What are the odds that of the 20 winner I picked, 7 were included on my pool picks for the week. Weird week of football, especially on Sunday.

NCAA RECORDS
JR 7-3
MR 5-5
MK 5-5
JG 5-5

NFL RECORDS
JG 3-2
JR 2-3
MR 0-4 (1 game left)
MK 0-5

U-G-L-Y for the Sunday games this week, but we fared pretty well in the NCAA.

NW laid an egg, which fits since 3 of us picked them this week against a brutal IND team. They also lost their RB and likely their QB for next week...who do they play next week, yep...GOLDY.

MK and JG nailed the TTECH pick. I continued to ride KAN through the first 4 TT TD's, but after number 7 and 8 I had to give up. Wow, that offense is impressive. And while the defense isn't "good" it might be the best they've had in a long time down in Lubbock. Should be a fun one this week.

JG's Cats of UK got rolled by FLA. This was a lot uglier than I expected.

JG nailed the Seminole game this week. They look like the real deal...might have been a little different if Taylor doesn't go out on the 1st play of the game, but the Noles looked solid.

MR - you have an unbelievable knack for calling the BIG GAMES of the week. He was the only one who rode GEO and they rolled easily. When it's a big game, never doubt Mr. Roe.

JR loved the Turtle at home, but of course the second you start trusting someone they suck.

MK had a tough call with PITT at home...giving up 54 to RUT at home?!?! PITT fans may want to hold off on those BCS tickets for a while.

JG - nice call on OKST. I thought TEX would crush in this one, but it was extremely close and could have really gone either way. Gundy, man, 41, is quite a coach.

JG's COL club couldn't quite score enough...or anything actually against MIZZOU. Tigers were pissed and ready, the Buffs just don't have the offense.

JG's strategy of betting against the Clones proves to be profitable once again!

MR once again mails a big game pick with PSU over OSU. I too liked the Nittany Lions, but this one was a battle.

My OREGON club pulled through huge at night and housed an AZST club that is falling hard right now.

HAW as a home dog - nice pick ROE.

Overall - not a bad college weekend for picks.

GOPHERS-PURDUE
This one was not pretty. If the offense could have capitalized on a couple of the turnovers it could have been lop-sided, but there are some issues up front. The line didn't allow us to run the ball and made Weber run for his life all day long. This must get better over the next 4 weeks. WIS, IOWA, MICH, and even NW have better defenses than PUR...so we better figure some things out quickly. On the positive side, the turnover machine continues to produce. How about the emergence of another WR!?!? Brandon Green showed why he had a 4 star rating attached to his name. The Spry suspension could end Ralph's playing career...Green will not leave the lineup for the next 3+ years. It was also nice to see Simmons make a great grab in the end zone on the final TD. Overall, a win is a win...especially on the road in the B10. We are 3-1 in the B10 with 4 winnable games left. I haven't completely come to grips yet with the reality that we could really be 11-1 or even 10-2...but that seems to be more likely with each passing week. This team isn't one of the 20 best in country, but it has gotten breaks in the schedule and the timing of when we play people. Breaks are also being created by this defense, but I still think to win all 4 or even 3 of the remaining games we need to see the offense finally explode. I love that they don't turn it over, but it's time to score some points...and this starts next week against NW. The Cats lost Sutton and likely Bacher for this game, and this is a team that is only scoring 25/game in the B10 with these guys playing. They are giving up about 21-22/game in conference right now, but I think their morale will be down and they are doubting themselves...this could be an ass-kicking if we come out with the right mind set and play like we are capable. I'll save the prediction for Thursday...but 8-1 is looking very very good right now.

NFL
Wow. Weird day in the League. We might have 2 0'fers this week...ouch.

Once again, 3 of us liked CAR...they don't cover. Seriously, this is the kiss of death.

3 liked BUFF...and they lose.

Not a lot of highlights, so I'll just leave it at that. Next week will be better.

PURPLE
Losing the WILLIAMS WALL for 4 weeks could pretty much seal the deal on our playoff hopes and Chilly's job. 8-8 suddenly looks like 6-10, and we're done. Really hard to care at all about this club right now with GOPHER NATION making it's rise to prominance. Plus we have an optimistic GOPHER HOOPS Squad starting soon and an undefeated HOCKEY team right now. Hell, even the Wolves are more interesting than the Purple right now. NBA, NCAA Hoops, and NHL mean only one thing...CENTSPORTS will be firing up again soon in Rollins house. I've been off the drug for about 6 weeks, but it's time to get it going again.

Also, I'm still trying to figure something out for NCAA HOOPS this year - let me know if you have ideas.

Games will be posted soon - Later fellas.

WEEK 9 Picks - Biggest game of the year?

It's that time again, College football is back for another week...possibly the biggest Gopher game in a long time. Seriously, a win this week might build the hype up so much for this club that I may actually explode. Anyway...on to the picks:

Once again, it starts on Thursday with two guys getting in on the action:
MR likes AUB, MK likes WV...I lean WV on this one just because the AUB offense has been so brutal. WV should be able to mount some scoring and wins 17-7.

JR and MK both like BOISE on Friday night. Only 7.5 at SJST...money$$$.

MR took the Cats of Cincy at UCONN at +1.5. I like it. UCONN and RUT are the most unpredicatble teams in the country.

JR, MR, JG all like NW. Always bet against Indiana.

MK continues to hate on Becky by picking the Illini to win at Madison and push Becky to 0-5...I like the pick, god I hope this happens.

MK and JG both took TTECH at KAN. I am leaning KAN on this one. Both teams throw it really well, both teams defend the pass really poorly...hmm, looks like a Jayhawk edge at home and a 93-90 win.

JR, MR, and MK like th Gophers...JG avoided the game. See what will happen below.

JG with a nice sneaky pick of UK +23 at FLA. UK's defense should make this one easy.

JR took his favorite Huskers -10 hosting Baylor. I still don't buy into Baylor only as a 10 pt dog at a hostilew environment like Lincoln. NEB in a beat down...49-14.

MK took VT, JG likes the Noles...of course. Should be a low-scoring bonanza this week, I'm taking my Hokies on the road with points. 9-7 winner!

Everyone has an opinion on the GEO-LSU game, 3 of us like LSU at home, ROE likes GEO on the road. Should be a fun one to watch...I'll take Tigers Defense 21-17.

I love the Turtle at Home...Lock of the Week...uh-oh.

MK took PITT hosting RUT...never bet on a RUT or UCONN game...you will get burned.

MR took TEXAS, the only one to do this surprisingly...JG likes OKST. I think TEXAS on this one as well. Too much offense and they will slow down the running game of OKST to coast to a 40-21 win.

I like BGSU on the road. They win on the road and lose at home.

I like MIZZOU at home and JG likes COL. I think the Tigers come out and roll this week and score by the handfuls...51-14.

JG picking against the Clones again...A&M on the road!!

MR likes TROY against a N.TEXAS team that might be the worst in the Nation.

MK and JG like ALA on the road. I'm thinking TEN might play okay and keep it close in the 2nd half.

MR took PSU, MK took OHIOST. I am leaning PSU on this one. OSU shouldn't be able to score too easily on this club, and PSU just deosn't stop scoring.

JR took OREGON at AZST...the Devils blow.

JR took ARIZ hosting USC...MR and JG like the Trojans. I think they are due for their road game scare and close win.

MR likes HAW at home in the late nighter.

GOPHERS-PURDUE
Huge game for the maroon and gold. A win here builds a ton of publicity and momemtum going into the final 4 regular season games of the year. Purdue comes in at 2-5 overall, 0-3 in the B10. Granted, they have played tough competition...but losing will wear on you. Coach Tiller is checking out waiting for the season to end so he can retire, Painter looks like a 15 year old playing Varsity QB for the first time every week, and Sheets the RB is mouthing off about everything. Team turmoil is ready to explode...so here's how we make this a laugher. Win the 1st quarter, and win it big. I hope we get the ball and score on the 1st possession, much like we did in ILL...create a little doubt. Then they get to Painter, WVD continues to play like a man possessed and gets a couple of sacks, forces a couple of TO's, and build a 21-0 lead. Purdue doesn't play defense, they can run it okay...but we stop the run well. And the WR's are dropping balls and Painter is a train wreck. He was actually pulled for a while last week until the backup dislocated his shoulder and is gone for the year. Don't give this team any hope. Score on offense, create turnoevrs on defense and just crush this team that is ready to throw in the towel on the season...they don't need any reason to try in this one. FINAL PREDICTION...GOPHERS 31 PURDUE 17...RAH-RAH-RAH FOR SKI-U-MAH...7-1 with 3 of 4 at home to close!!!

NFL
JR took BAL at home
JR, MR, MK all like the east coast west coast vibe and picked CAR over AZ
MR likes Tampa
JG likes WASH
MR, MK, JG all like BUF
JG likes the Chargers in London
JG also like Tyler Thigpen and the Chiefs
JR took the Falcons in PHIL
JR also likes CLE at JAC, MK likes the JAGS
MR and MK took the Mewelde Moore lead Steelers, JG likes the Giants
JR and MK likes the 49ers against Seneca.
MR likes TEN on Monday night.

PURPLE RANT
So we're 3-4, right in the hunt. We have to win the next 2 at home to have a chance...HOU and GB. At 5-4, we would be near the top of the division with some tough games left to play. L at TB, L at JAC, beat the BEARS, beat DET, L at AZ, then we close with ATL and NYG at the dome. I think we'll be about 7-7 going into these 2 games. The NYG will probably be a win, because they'll be coasting at this point. The ATL game could be dicey...probably a loss.

8-8 is the official prediction for this club. Yuck. Sadly, I think the PACK and BEARS will both be about the same. Will an 8-8 team represent the NFC North this year...yeah, I think so.

Well, that's all we've got for this week. I'm starting to think about what we'll do for NCAA HOOPS this year...last year was okay, but I'm trying to come up with something better. I'm thinking maybe of drafting teams for a season, like 2 from each major conference and then we could just follow those and see who ends up with the best record. We could make it fantasy like with trades etc. I don't know, we'll see...let me know if you have any great ideas.

Later Guys.

Is This Really Happening?

Ok. I'm a Gopher Rube equal to any other out there, but seriously...can you believe this optimism that we are getting locally and most impressively on the National scene? I just read this on CFN:

QUESTION: sleeper BCS team to watch out for?

"Also, don’t lose sight of Minnesota. Yup, as crazy as it sounds, the Golden Gophers are 6-1 and just might be favored in each of their final five games. If they can somehow win out and either Ohio State or Penn State has two losses, you know that league commissioner Jim Delany will do whatever is necessary to get two Big Ten teams into BCS bowl games. Hey, Kansas and Wake Forest have played in January games in this era of college football."

Holy crap! Not Texas Tech, not LSU...MINNE F'ing SOTA!! I don't know if I can handle this. Seriously, in my wildest dreams I did not expect this in 2008.

I've been working for like 4 hours straight, so I needed a break - here are some fn facts, commentaries, and general thoughts on the FOOTBALL WORLD.

- awesome quote: Penn State LB Navorro Bowman was asked about the BCS rankings and said, “I don’t even know what that is.”

- Anyone catch Lou Holtz comparing Rich Rodriguez to Hitler on Saturday...Lou is going to mumble himself right out of a job very soon.

- Becky fans are revolting against Bielema and the entire Sconny squad. On some Badger message boards the basic vibe is this: "I don't care about the rest of the season, we could go 1-7 in the B10 and just beat the Gophers and I'll be happy." Wow, how the times have changed...I think I uttered that exact line last year for the Becky and the Iowa games. I think I'll take a 6-2 or even 5-3 B10 record and a Jan 1 Bowl Game.

- On Becky, so they are 3-4, They will likely beat IND and Cal Poly in the finale (nice scheduling), but they have to upset ILL, MSU, or MINNESOTA to get a chance at even going to a bowl. What a great season.

- Apparently Iowa is touting Shonn Greene for Heisman. Did you hear Ferentz' kid got arrested this week! I love all the issues they are having with players. Greene for Hesiman, I'll give him Chris Darkins type odds at that...housing IND and WIS does not get you much in my book. Iowa will lose 3 of their final 4 and go 6-6...could Becky and Cap. Kirk both miss a bowl this year?!?!?

- Boise is 6-0...they gave up 32 to ORE and won, but in their other 5 they have given up 7,7,7,7,3...who knew the Smurfs played that kind of defense!

- JG - are the Noles for real again? Giant, Giant, Giant game this week hosting VTECH, but the defense looks to be back to dominant level and the offense has its moments. 6 very tough games left force me to pick against them as the ACC champ, but it's nice to see them semi-back.

- who does win the ACC? let see, BC only has one loss to GT but 3 very tough road games left (NC, FSU, WF)I think counts them out. GT has only one loss to VT, 3 of the 4 remaining ACC games are at home (at NC)(home VIR, FSU, MIA). MARY has one ACC loss, 3 of 5 ACC games remaining at home, where they rock. But traveling to VT and BC likely means 2 losses...so they are out. NC has the most favorable schedule...3 home games and at MARY and DUKE, but they already have 2 losses. Believe it or not, VIR only has one ACC loss, but 5 tough ones left mean they don't get close. WF and VT also each only have one loss in the ACC. If WF can get by MIA this week on the road, they are the odds on favorite for me...VT has a battle at FSU, but if they get by that one they should win out (MARY, at MIA, DUKE, VIR)...I like VT vs. WF for the ACC title with my preseason pick, the Hokies winning it all.

- wow, that got a little more in depth than I intended. Texas is good, yeah - this just in. They are still averaging 48! points per game. This after playing COL, OK, MIZZ the last 3 weeks. Defense still has questions (30+ to OK and MIZZ) but if you continue to score 48 ppg you will win. I think they win this week but have a battle with either at TTECH or at KAN...they need a close road test before this thing is over. The should at least make the B12 title game, but who do they play?

- Well, B12 North is bad once again. I am going to continue to tout my overlooked Jayhawk club for this spot. One B12 loss right now, will probably lose to either TEX or TT, but not both. MIZZ has 2 L's right now, and still plays KAN in the finale. I can't see them losing to COL, BAY, KST, ISU...so I'll take MIZZ over KAN in the B12 North and a MIZZOU-TEXAS rematch in the B12 title game. Logic would say Texas housing again...but logic does not apply in B12 title games, especially with major BCS implications. MIZZOU over TEXAS to lift the 11-1 Gophers into the BCS Championship!!!

- AUB at WV this Thursday, wow big game...but nobody cares because these 2 both suck this year. WV is an 8-4 type team that does not impress anyone, and AUB has set NCAA offense back a few years with their performance this year...they lose 3 or 4 more game before it's over to go 6-6.

- OREST cuold be going to the Rose Bowl...yeah, the same team that got housed by STAN and PSU to start the year. They shouldn't lose again, but probably will, but I'm saying there's a chance. USC is probably still the best team in the country in my opinion.

-WASH at WASU could be epically bad this year. I'm think 0-10 Huskeis at 1-10 WASU...get your tickets now!!

- The B10 title is tough to analyze right now...everything is seen through Maroon goggles at this point. How do we get to the Rose Bowl you ask?...here we go:
-OHIOST needs 2 losses: this week they lose to PSU, and they lose at ILL or to MICH just because it's a rivalry.
-PENNST only needs one loss, assuming we win out, at IOWA on 11/8 could be scary, but that's about it. This week might be the best chance. I think it's our best chance for OHIOST to win this week and for them to then win out and go to the BCS (or lose 2 other ones) for us to get into the Rose Bowl.
- IOWA already has 2 losses, and they have at least 2 more on their schedule...no chance.
- NW is 2-1 like us, but we host them, they play OSU, MICH, and ILL...they lose at least 2-3 of those...dead.
- ILL is 2-2 right now, they need to win out, but at WIS, IOWA, OHIOST, at NW isn't a good schedule for that. at least a 3 loss team.
- MSU has only 1 loss, but at MICH they may lose because this is MSU we're talking about, then they close at PSU = L. WIS and PUR at home - I can see an L on one of those as well. They showed their true colors last week.
- GOPHERS should be/could be favored in their final 5 games. at BECKY is the tough one for me after this week, but hosting NW, IOWA, MICH is a good thing. I'm telling you guys...8-4 at a minimum, likely 9-3 for a final record. OUTBACK BOWL/CAP ONE BOWL...bring it!!

Well, that's probably enough rambling. Thanks for listening or deleting...whatever.

Later fellas.

Week 8 Results

With week 8 almost in the books...here's how we did:

JR 8-7
MR 7-8
MK 6-8 (has DEN tonight)
JG 6-9

I won!! woo-hoo! first time for everything I guess. It all came down to the NFL yesterday, as usual...but we'll start with the NCAA results:

MK won NCAA at 6-4, MR and JR went 5-5, JG with a 4-6 mark this week.

Week got off to a tough start Thursday night for all of you with the BYU blunder. I told you TCU...nobody listens.

MK nailed NW...I really thought PUR would put up a fight and win. I think this losing thing is getting to the Boilers heads'...let's hope it continues.

MK and JG got housed with their WF pick...never pick against the Turtle at home...no matter how shitty they have been, they always play well at home.

MR made a nice call on RUTGERS over UCONN. JG missed on UCONN. I was surprised by this one, why I don't know. I guess I thought UCONN could handle a bad team...wrong. Are you ready for the Pitt Panthers to represent the BigEast in the BCS?!?! Yikes.

MK nailed GT - I changed my pick on this one after finding out all the injuries CLEM had coming in. A nice fight, but I think GT is real deal. A close 2nd to Timmy Brew for coahc of the year...Paul Johnson.

JR and MR tursted the damn Badgers, who are now 0-4...Badgers 0-4, how great is that! Iowa might be turning the corner a bit, but still it's only at IND and WIS at home...not exactly great competition. I'll wait to see what happens in 2 weeks at ILL.

JG hit Vandy on a cover. Nice. A lesson for all of us, you don't need to pick winners, just covers. 15 in a competitive SEC game is a big line, especially the way Vandy plays.

JG also hit on the Huskers. He had to bet against one of our least favorite teams this week, so the Clones were it. They sucks alot. Huskers sitll aren't for real.

I hit on OKST...how can you not bet on a team that has won easily and covered every week this year!!

MR and JG hit OHIOST in a big way. I liked them as well, but didn't make it in my Top 10. MSU looked totally overmatched, and next week for OSU-PSU is a big one for the B10 and the Rose Bowl and the Gopher Bowl hopes.

MR and MK hit on MIAMI at DUKE...although it was scary. DUKE is like Wacker Gophers right now...fun 2 watch.

MR thought OK would rebound and house KAN...close but no cigar. KAN is better than they get credit for.

JG made a tough NC pick at a suddenly hot VIR team and lost outright.

I might have made the worst pick of the week with NAVY hosting PITT. MK took the Panthers and housed!!

I made the last second switch to STAN, and lost. Suck.

My NILL pick won easily at -7. I think I've picked them the last 6 weeks in a row.

JG's MICH play looked very promising early, then they got hammered.

My lock of the week was COL, of course it didn't win. COL scored zero in the 2nd half and slipped by a bad KST team 14-13. Boo.

MR liked UK, but they aren't very good. And I guess ARK isn't as bad as they appeared earlier this year.

JR and MR took OSU at WASH. at -14 this is free money.

I hit ULL at -4, barely.

JR and MK missed on VT at BC...BC appears to be the best ACC team right now outside of GT. Should be a close finish.

MR and JG missed bad on the MIZZOU pick. TEXAS is fricking good.

JR and MK hit on ILLINOIS. not becasue they are great, but Indiana might be one of the worst D1 teams around!!

All 3 of you hit on LSU. I liked the Cocks in this one. You're right, I'm wrong.

MK missed the late nighter with Cal losing at AZ. Cats at home are nice, Bears on the road are not good.

No GOPHERS = not as much fun on Saturday.

I did go 29-23 to up my overall record to a beautiful 205-169 (55%). Not good enough to get paid for it, but good enough to be ahead. one losing week out of eight...I'll take it. I haven't calculated it all, but I think my MAC/SUNBELT records are off the charts while I struggle more with the bigger conferences. hmmm.

NFL Action - UGLY.
I liked the BILLS, MK and JG missed on the Super-Chargers. You guys forgot the West coast team playing on east coast at noon...never a winner.

I also loved CAR, MR took N.O. Brees and Co. play well about every other week, so they were due. CAR is not a bad club.

MR nailed the BEARS...I had it and then bailed on it. nice pick.

MR took the points and CINCY. Yuck. Not a good week for big points...unless...

You liked the RAMS. Dallas...wtf? they are terrible all of a sudden.

JG hit TEN, why did we all not hit this one. Best team in the NFL vs. one of the 3 worst only giving 7.5. no-brainer.

MK missed on MIA, I thought BAL was a mirage as well, but after looking at their recent 3 game losing streak...PITT, TN, IND...they may be a playoff team.

JR and MR bet against the Lions, and almost won. one damn FG away from a nice NFL week.

We all loved INDY at GB except for MR....this usually spells disaster, and it didn't disappoint. Colts got housed.

NYJ layed an egg for MK and JG. How do you let OAK beat you? NYJ aren't a good club either.

TB skinned by on Sunday night to get me over the top for the week. God, it was great to see Seneca playing QB again, what a talent.

MK had DEN tonight...I think you're good. I did pick NE at home, but I'm starting to re-think it.

Fun stuff. I will post new games tomorrow morning.

Also - want to get this out there, Anna and family are heading to New Ulm on MICH week...I'll be attending the game and then I'm up for a GIANT college football Saturday (NOV 8th I believe is the date). I hope all of you or some of you may be available...should be the best time I've had since...Vegas I guess.

Let me know...we'll make some plans.

GOPHERS!!

So after a little investigating this morning, here's what the world thinks of our Gophers:

CFN - ranked #20, projected for a Jan 1st Outback Bowl birth against S.Carolina
BCS - 24th, if things fall our way...BCS game??!?!?!
POLLS - 25th in the nation

It looks like the Brewester plan has been accelerated and some great things are actually possible this year. All remaining games are actually winnable, and it will be surprising if this team ends with fewer than 9 wins.

How unreal is this? Let's enjoy it and hope for another big one at PUR this weekend...a game that scares the S*it out of me by the way.

Big update coming later.

Week 8 Picks

Here we go, another week.

Tonight all 3 of you have BYU...I didn't pick it, but I like TCU. BYU is overhyped, TCU is underhyped. Frogs will win.

MK took NW despite their loss last week...I think PUR gets them.

MK and JG like WAKE at MARY...I like this one too.

MR took RUT at home, JG likes UCONN on the road...big battle between the top 2 pickers thus far. I'll take UCONN...RUT still sucks.

MK takes GT at CLEM. This is a scary one to me...I think CLEM wins one with some rejuvenated players.

JR and MR took Becky at IOWA. JG said it best - game should be canceled due to lack of interest. Did you hear about the Becky Backing Wacko who is so anti-Bielema right now be got a hold of some of their recruits phone numbers and started calling them and telling them to go elsewhere?!?! Wow, greatest fans around, huh. I love seeing the lack of interest in Beckyville these days. Same could be said for the Hawks...the loser of this one might be dun-dee the rest of the year.

JG thinks the smart kids rebound and cover 15 at GEO. I think he might be right.

JG also took NEB at ISU. The Clones looked brutal LW, NEB looked okay...so this is probably going to be a rout in favor of the Clones. I'll take ISU to cover 5.5

JR takes OKST at home against BAY. OKST seems to be the real deal...a bit of a letdown scare here for me, but BAY still doesn't play D...OKST scores by the bunches.

MR and JG like OSU at MSU. I like the Buckeyes too, but I've been coutning MSU out for the last few weeks...so can they shock me again?

MR and MK like MIAMI at Duke. I'm with them, Duke is coming back down to playing regular Duke football.

MR likes OK at home vs. KAN. I think OK wins but doesn't cover. I still think KAN is a decent team.

JG took the Heels at the suddenly hot VIR CAVS. I like this pick. Heels are tough right now.

JR took NAVY, MK took PITT. Gimme NAVY all day as a home dog against a still under achieving PITT team.

A couple more obscure picks for me...NILL hosting TOLEDO - these guys are not good, MICH is just worse. I also like NEV on a major rebound after a bad loss last week to crush UTST.

JG took the Wolverines to cover 24 at PSU. Scary betting on MICH or against PSU right now...good luck.

JR took COL hosting KST as lock of the week. KST still blows.

MR likes UK to rebound and ARK to stay terrible this week - I like this pick.

JR and MR took OREST at WASH. no brainer.

JR likes ULL hosting ARKST.

JR and MK took VT at BC. Still riding my VT as ACC champs pick.

MR and JG are counting on a TEXAS let down hosting MIZZOU. This is very likely.

JR and MK like ILL at home against IND. Wow, the Hoosiers are bad. ILLINI looking to put up 100 to make up for last week.

All 3 of you like LSU at SC. I am going the other way. I think Spurrier has their number this year.

Finally, MK likes CAL over AZ...I agree. AZ screwed me again LW. I can't pick an AZ game the right way to save my life.

NFL PICKS

MK and JG like SD...I think BUFF in this one.

MR likes the SAINTS...I like th PANTHERS.

JR and MR like the BEARS...sorry Vikes, you're f*cking terrible.

MR likes CINCY hosting PITT...hmmm. Another classic ROE huge dog pick that loses by 25+? yep.

JG took TEN -7.5 at KC...nice pick.

MK likes MIA at home vs. BAL...this is solid as well.

MR and JG took an underdog STL club hosting DAL. I like it.

JR and MR like HOU -10 hosting a powerful DET club. I'm calling 34-3.

Everyone but MR likes INDY in GB this week.

Everyone but ROE also likes NYJ at OAK this week. JG - what happened to the OAK faith we were seeing in VEGAS?

JR took TB -10 hosting SEA, because they suck a lot. I'm excited to see the great Seneca Wallace play this week, that should turn things around for them...not.

MK finally continues to ride the DEN train by picking them at NE on Monday. I like the Pats.

That's all for this week. More commentary next week when I'm finally back to normal. Also, I'll throw out an extensive Vegas recap next week if I get a chance to relive the good times.

Thanks Guys - have a good one.

Week 7 Recap

Short and sweet today...I'm still dead, but on the way to recovery.

JG wins again, 4th week in a row...MR ties for the title this week as well.

NCAA
MR and JG each win 5 to take the NCAA title, yep 5-5 was #1 this week.
JR and MK each win 4 of 10.

NFL
JR: 1-4
MR, JG, MK: 2-3

Yep...we sucked.

I'll send out this week's games soon as well as a recap of the weekend that was.

Hope you're all doing well.

Later.

WEEK 7 PICKS

Here we go with the 7th week of the season...it should be a big one.

MK starts the action with WF tonight...love it.

MK and JG continue the tradition by taking a god awful IND team to cover 5.5 at home against Capt. Kirk.

Split on the TEX/OK game...I love OK a lot...MK likes OK as well, MR took the Horns...picking dogs appears to be a theme this week for Mr. Roe.

MK showing major faith in WV over SYR, or maybe he just thinks SYR is f*cking terrible, which is true.

JG is the only one brave enough to go with the Gophers this week, I will end up betting them in Vegas...maybe a teaser opportunity at +19ish.

I like SC at UK...I don't believe in UK at all.

JR and JG are hopping on the COL train at KAN...they burned me LW, so I am picking against them. CU runs well, KAN defense is suspect. Go Buffs!MK likes the Hawks at home where they are tough.

MK and JG took the Smart Kids at MISS ST...I like the dogs. Just have a feeling on this one, I think the miracle run stops now.

MR and JG love the points for ASU at USC. Personally, I think it's high, but if Carpenter doesn't play, and they continue to not be able to run the ball...USC might win 42-0.

I LOVE GEO at home vs. TEN. They continue to show that their losses this year have been anything but a fluke, and GEO is on the rebound looking to make a statement game and get back into the race.

MK picked Sparty on the road...it's Vegas week, why break tradition. I like NW in this one, I think MSU is a better team, but karma counts for something.

MK also took the Heels, I think the Irish find a way so for the 3rd straight week I am going against the Heels.

MR loves the points again with PUR +18 at an Ohio State University. I think PUR blows and the Buckeyes are hitting their stride...might be too many points though.

JG likes TCU at COLST...TCU houses everyone but OK this year...good pick.

MR took UCF to cover at the Canes, once again Roe takes big points.

I like NILL, I've ridden them for a few weeks now and they are not a bad club. MIAOH continues to be overrated and hasn't proven anything this year.

Roe likes a putrid ARK team and the points as well...I'm sensing a theme.

JR took AZ, have to bet the Cats on Vegas week...once again tradition will continue.

MR is giving points with BYU over NM this week. BYU hasn't given up a point at home yet...might be a really nice pick.

MK and JG continue on the I HATE IOWA warpath with their pick of Baylor -3.5 over the 'Clones.

JG goes against typical "bet against the teams we hate" fashion and picks the Huskers to cover 20 at TTECH. This game might be 81-7.

I like FIU over MDTN at -1. FIU lost 26 of 27 before winning the last 2 in a row...they're hot, don't bet against them.

Split on the FLA/LSU showdown this week. JR and MR took Super-human Tim Tebow and the Gators, MK took the Tigers. Did you know this is the first time the Tigers have been mroe than a FG underdog in the regular season in over 6 years!! wow, i've got a lot of time on my hands.

MR likes MIZZOU, and so do I. OKST has played nobody, MIZZOU has had a couple tests already and they're at home. MIZZOU wins 93-78.

MR went anti-christ on us and took Becky at home (I am leaning that way to, but my bet is TBD after 15 beers) and JG took Penn State. Nobody playing better than PSU right now, but can Sconny lose two in a row at home as a dog? I hope so.

Finally, JG took the points and UCLA on the road at ORE, who shocklingly MR decided to pick and give the points.

ROE is either +Double digits or -Double digits in 7 of his games this week...interesting.

UPSET ALERT...UPSET ALERT...UPSET ALERT...
My upset picks for the week:
LOVE MISS ST as a slight dog at home over VANDY
NW at home +3 vs. Sparty
ND at +7 at NC

NFL PICKS

I haven't even thought about Sunday yet with all the research I've been doing for the 47 games on Saturday, but here's what we look like:

MR and MK both like the Aints at home against the Raiders.

Mike and Mike go against each other on the next one with ROE taking points and the suddenly upstart Bungals at NYJ. MK on the Jets. Tough call on this one, but I still can't believe the CINCY club is for real. I love a Jets teaser on this one.

JR and JG both like the Bears at ATL. I think Ryan will struggle against this Defense, and believe it or not Kyle Orton is looking like a QB. I'm hoping for 3 Devin Hester RECEIVING TD's this week (I just picked him up to start on my fantasy squad).

MR, always a hater, took the lowly Lions to cover 14 at the Purple. Boo.

I like WASH at home. STL is f*cking terrible, and WASH has beaten down everyone in their path since the opener.

JR, MR, MK all like Carolina this week at TB. We are 1-3 the last 2 weeks when 3 of us like the same team. uh-oh.

JR and JG split on this one, I really think MIAMI is solid so I took them +3 at HOU. JG likes the Texans to get out of the winless bucket.

JR took BAL at IND, 5.5 is too high and Indy might now be that great of a team this year. This has FG game written all over it.

JG took the Pack, I think they are much worse than we thought, but SEA is still shitty. Pack should be a safe bet.

JG also like PHILLY...I'm still not sold on SF being decent, but the oddsmakers continue to give them credit.

MK took his former club, the 'Boys, on the road at AZ. Dallas has struggled in AZ in the past. I'm torn on this game...once again a betting decision will come after 12-20 beers on Sunday.

MR took the Pats. I'm not sold on this NE team being anything close to the class of the AFC, while I think SD is solid. Give me the Super-Chargers.

MK and JG took what seems to be a layup on Monday night with the NYG giving 7 at CLE. CLE has showed no signs of life this year, if they don't Monday I'll completely write them off. NYG should roll, they are frickin' good and still seem to struggle to get respect.

GOPHERS-ILLINI
Well, this is a big one for Timmy Brew and Co. The Illini are coming off a giant win at MICH and appear to be for real again this year. Their 2 losses have come to a couple of the elite teams in the country, so it's hard to count that against them. The Gophers are coming off a B10 win, which we haven't been able to say in a while, but didn't look real good last week. What will happen?...ILLINI come out pumped and get a nice 2 score lead early, I'm thinking a SpT TD or something weird. But the Gopehrs settle in and roll with the WEBER-DECKER connection for a while to stay alive. 17-7 at half. In the 2nd half, the Gopher defense gets a big turnoevr and capitalizes on it early to turn up the heat on Juice and the boys. A crazy trick play in the 2nd half gives the Gophers another score and the lead (at this point our crew will be completly avoiding all other games on the big screens and pissing our pants with thoughts of 6-1 and 2-1 in the B10), but the Juice will eventually get loose. And all of us Gopher bettors will have to be satisfied with just a cover but a straight up loss...ILLINI sneak back to win 28-21.

VIKES host LIONS
Well, this might be the worst 3-3 team I've seen after we win this game. Let's get this straight, we will not lose this game. The only question is the margin of victory. 14 feels high, but let's consider this...Kitna was pulled last week and may not play much if they chose to look at Orlavsky (sp?). Call me crazy, but I don't think he'll fair well again this Viking D. The Lions players are checking out already and starting to try and figure out who their next coach is going to be and if they might find a decent GM. The Lions defense is hardly the Bear of '85. The are losing this year by an average of 17-37...that's a lot of fricking points. So you figure they give us at least one on Defense, and a 1st drive TD out of the kick ass offense...that's 14-0. You have to bank on a couple turnovers in DET territory to give us a couple of extra FG's...20-0. DET might not be able to score, just because they suck. They put up 21 at ATL and only 13 at SF...our defense is light years ahead of both of those. This puts them at 7 or less, whic means a Vikings teaser to -7 or -6.5 is a lock. PURPLE POWER WINS 20-3...we're comin', we're comin'!! (until we get housed by the Bears next week)

That's it - I'll bring the picks to Vegas so we can monitor our pool amongst the craziness that is a Football Weekend in Vegas.

See you guys early tomorrow!!!

Random Thoughts

Vegas!! 3 days until touchdown in Sin City. If we can only hit 60% out there, I think we would all be happy.

The Vikes:
How the f*ck is our special teams that bad? We were letting them return kicks to our side of the 50 all night. And we continued to punt to Bush after we housed the first punt return. That really makes me look forward to playing the Bears in a few weeks with Hester. That was one of the most frustrating games that I have seen. We cannot get AP going against the 12 in the box that the other teams are stacking. Gus throws the ball up and gets lucky at times (see the Berrian catch where he and Allison almost killed each other). The kick ass offense is still not kicing ass. We have won two games where the defense got us our first touchdown and set the tone early.
Also...we broke the longest streak of not having a 100 yard receiver since the Chiefs in the late 70s. Who was the last Viking before Berrian to go over 100? Thats right...Troy Williamson. What a terrible stat!

The Gophs:
I unfortunately haven't been able to watch a lot of the games this year live, but have watched plenty of DVR'd games! Eric Decker is legit, and he looks like he can actually play at the next level. He isn't afraid to take a hit and he catches everthing thrown his way. The defense is actually playing like a real college defense. It is a lot of fun to watch.

Well...here's to a great weekend in Vegas. May our livers survive and may we come home with some money in our pockets--preferrably more than when we leave Minneapolis. And may we see Cinnamon and friends at the Penthouse club!

Week 6 Wrap Up

JG is champion of the world for this week at 9-6 overall, everyone else finished at
8-7...not bad, collectively we were +6 for the week.

Overall records are as follows:
MR: 52-38 (58%)
JG: 48-42 (53%)
MK: 44-46 (49%)
JR: 41-49 (46%)

MR is still the NCAA leader at a ridiculous 41-24 (60%), and MK and JG are tied for the NFL lead at 16-9 (60%)...that's all it takes is 60% to do really well at this hobby - let's remember that for this weekend.

NCAA RECAP
The Gophers won an ugly one on Saturday, but it's a B10 win which we'll obviously take any day of the week. Brewster put it best when he said we "leaned on our defense all day long." Yes, these are not the same Minnesota Golden Gophers we've been living and dieing with over the last 10-12 years, we actually do play defense and we can win games with our defense. However, I have some major concerns about the other side of the ball right now.
1) Where has the running game gone? Weber is not a threat at all to run this year, and the stable of backs we have need 40 carries to get to 100 yards. Obviously, this needs to improve to keep winning in the B10.
2) OL Play - scary the last few weeks. Weber has been under pressure, and clearly we can't run if the line doesn't open holes. In all fairness we are very young here (and at RB) but we need to start seeing some of these guys get better as the B10 season gets going.
3) Another WR Option - this might be the biggest thing for this team to figure out if we plan on finishing in the top half of the B10 - Decker is all world, and continues to be even with all the attention he's getting. But how open and how productive can these other guys be when he's getting all the attention. Some of the Freshman need to start rolling and Spry needs to ride pine for the next 3 years - worthless.

So, obviously very happy with a win, but scared about the upcoming game with the Illini. They will scroe some points on us, but we need to have a much more productive offense to compete on the road.

BAD PICKS
JR - Memphis, how the f*ck did I talk myself into this one. I knew it was a bad pick when I made it.
MR - USF, ouch. Pitt housed them as a 2TD dog. Maybe the Thursday logic will be to always just pick the Dog wheather they are Home or Road?
JR - KAN, liked this one a lot...until they were down 20-0 at half! If they show up at all in H1 it's a route.
MK - UNLV - he loved the Rebs on the road, a scary proposition. CSU rolled them pretty good.
MR - Tulane...they were very promising early this year, and the "always bet against Army" logic was a can't miss in the first 4 weeks....these teams are heading in opposite directions now.
MK - MICH, even though MK bleeds Maize and Blue this was not a good pick. Illinois exploited the defense and the offense continued to look helpless.
MK & JG - AUB - never bet against the smart kids. They are rolling this year and continue to somehow keep it close and beat some solid SEC teams despite having the 12th ranked offense and defense in the SEC!!
MK & JG - UCONN - these guys suck. I liked them to in this game, but in hindsight I'm trying to figure out why. NC has athletes everywhere, and apparently don't need their starting QB to crush people.
JR - TN - maybe the worst pick of the week, TN almost loses to NILL at home. My question, as bizarre as it sounds, is what's the line on TN vs. GOPHERS neautral field...MN -3?!?

Enough misery, let look at the great picks of the week:
MK had a couple nice ones with OREST and NCST both losing and covering.
MR pulled a super dark horse out by hitting RUT to cover at WV...wow, that's impressive.
JR, MK, JG - GOPHERS! Rah! it wasn't pretty, but Indiana is f-ing B-R-U-T-A-L...they shouldn't win a B10 game.
JR - Gators -22 at ARK...come on guys, coming off a loss, ARK is terrible = easy $
MR - OK - 27 at BAY...Bears are improved, but OK is #1 for a reason.
JG - SC, in bascially a pick 'em, nice call on this one...Cocks aren't bad.
TT - did the whole world not see this one coming, how bad is KST...well, they are only a FG favorite at A&M this week.
MR and JG - ILLINI - nice work seeing through the MICH mirage. This ILLINI club is for real I think.
JR - ULL -1.5 at ULM, does anybody know what these stand for? ULL plays people tight, ULM gets blown away...easy $ once again.
JR - ARIZONA, in the revenge game for VEGAS 07, I loved the Cats and they didn't disappoint.
MR - Saturday night Trifecta: USC, OHIOST, MIZZOU - nailed all 3. Let's save some great runs like this for next week and make it worth something besides pride!

Was anyone else really sad to see Becky fall to 0-2 in the B10. Season over?...yes....getting housed by PSU next week?...yes...TREE making huge dollars on that game....yes.

NFL PICKS
12-8 overall in the NFL this week after the SHOCKER OF ALL SHOCKERS last night. almost a 15-5 week if the Aints would have stopped getting turnovers. Seriously, has a team ever deserved to win a game less than the purple last night. Offense might be starting to get it by throwing the ball down the field, defense looked much better in H2...a layup coming next week with DET to get to .500...who knows, the season may be salvageable.

BAD PICKS OF THE WEEK
MR gets nominated 2 times for this one...SEA narrowly missed the 6 point cover at NYG by losing 44-6, and the Lions nearly covered the 7 at home against CHI 34-7. Wow, 2 really bad teams getting totally crushed.JR comes in a close 2nd for picking the BILLS -1.5 at AZ, but they lost 41-17. Edwards only lasted 3 plays, and we all know Losman and the Bills would have been a 7 pt. dog at AZ.

GREAT PICKS
MK - CAR over KC, why did we all not jump on this. KC is bad people, this was easy $.
MR - AZ over BUF, nice. AZ is solid at home, I've been opposite on them all season, so why would it change now. Nice call. Cards win if Warner turns it over less than 7 times.

All right guys - it's one for next week. I will give you each a call sometime tonight to clarify our plans, but I think we're all set. Also my dad's brother Terry will be out there on Thursday night and staying at Harrah's across the street. So preapre to be surrounded by the great knowledge of 3 Rollins'...can you handle that?!? FYI My dad rocked a 12-3-1 week on his picks this week, so he's riding a little hot streak coming into the big weekend. I gave him both of your phone numbers, so he may call you to figure things out for FRI morning as well. His cell is : 507-273-8660.

We'll be in touch.

Quick Update on Week 6

JG wins again - with a 9-6 or 10-5 week depending on the Aints and Queens tonight.

But for the 2nd time in 6 weeks we will all finish over .500 for the week...not a bad roll going into VEGAS BABY!

I'll send out a complete recap later today - lots of good things, a few bad ones, and some big plans for next weekend.

Week 6 - Predictions

All the picks are in and we're set for Week 6 of NCAA and Week 5 of the NFL...here we go:

JR went against his usual picks and took MEM tonight -5 at UAB...scary picking a road favorite on THUR night!!

MR like the Bulls at home -13.5 vs. a garbage Pitt club.

MK took OREST to cover the 10.5 at UTAH.

Saturday:

Everyone has an opinion on the Gophs this weekend, per usual MK, JG, JR like the Gophs...MR took the Hoosiers.

I really think this should be a win and cover for the Gophs. Indiana has shown nothing promising so far, and the Gophs really haven't played a really bad game yet. Let's hope this continues and our new look D shuts the door on the running of Kellen Lewis, which is really the only thing I'm worried about on this team. Indiana's defesne is brutal, so i see the Gophers getting into the 30's pretty easily...overall, I'll call for a 37-21 win...1-1 in the B10 and 1 win away from a Bowl Game in 08!

I was suprised that nobody but me jumped on the KAN -13 at the Clones. I really think KAN is still a solid team that showed me a lot on the road in the loss at USF. The Clones still blow, and should run into some trouble now that they have to play a real defense. Jayhawks crush...44-20.

MR took the "always bet against Army" approach and took Tulane -19 at home...nice pick.

I actually like ASU on the road at Cal this week in a bit of an upset. Cal lost their top TB and have a QB carousel going right now, so ASU, who can score some points, should be ready to try and get some respectability back. Devils straight up win this thing 27-24.

MR took ALA at home, I think UK might keep this one closer than 16.5...I'll say BAMA 24-13.

JR, MK, JG again agreed on the TTECH club only giving 6.5 at an underachiving KST team. I think I could pick TT every week, hard not to when you know they'll score in the 40's or 50's.

In a shocker, MK took the Canes and JG took the Noles...should be a close one. Any side bets this year guys? I like the Noles, I think they're just playing better than MIA right now. Has anyone even said a word about this game during the week? Wow, how the mighty have fallen.

I'm the only one who didn't bet on ILL at MICH. MK is a true Wolverine believer, but JG and MR took the Illini. I like Illinois...I just can't pick MICH ever. They still don't look like a good team, and Illinois can throw it around a bit...23-13 ILLINI.

MK and JG like AUB at VAN as a road favorite in the SEC. I still have to believe AUB is the better team in this one and think they will win and actually cover...12-7.

MK and JG also like UCONN, which I agree with. I thought NC was going to get toasted by MIA last week without their QB, but no. I've continued to underestimate UCONN all year, so now that I'm finally calling for a win they'll probably blow.

I was having bad flashback to VEGAS 07 when thinking about the WASH at ARIZ game this week. I don't think I'll ever forgive Ty Willingham and Co. for costing me $600...fuck him and the Huskies. Zona in a route...51-20. Willingham should be gone.

How about the respect N.ILL gets as only a 16 pt dog at TENNESSEE this week. I jumped on the Vols, but nobody else did. TN is struggling, but nothing like a nice MAC team to come in and get you back on track...38-10.

JG and MR went against each other this week in the USC-ORE matchup. JG took the dog (DUCKS) while MR likes the Trojans. I'm feeling ORE in this one, not to win but cover. After seeing OREST run all over USC on the ground, I think the Ducks can keep it close enough the same way. USC wins 28-17.

MR and JG agree on the Buckeyes going in giving 2.5 to Becky and the 0-1 Badgers. Thanks for picking against Becky and Iowa again this week JG - you rock! But I have a hard time betting against them in Camp Randall...especially as a home dog. I sadly have to go with the Badgers in a slugfest...21-19.

UPSET ALERT!!!
I hit a couple of these last week, so I figured I'd try again - here are some underdogs that could/should straight up win this weekend:
-NCST +8 at home vs. BC - MK picked this one as well...nice work.
-ASU as mentioned above at Cal
-NAVY at AF +6, MK likes the Falcons, but I think Navy gets them again
-RICE +14 at Tulsa - lots of points in this one, I think Rice may shock them
-don't hate me...NEB +10 at home at night against the Tigers of MIZZOU. I just feel like something bad could happen here.
-finally, in a mini-shocker, COL covering 14 at home vs. TEXAS. Nobody is playing as well as the Horns right now, but it's tough to play in Boulder...even tougher when you've rolled through everyone easily so far...even tougher still when you're looking ahead to a GIANT GAME w/ OK next week. Not sold on a COL win here, but I really like it to be a very close game.

NFL PICKS
How about those Vikes?!?! zzzzz....zzzzz....zzzz....zzzz...
The most boring team in the league takes Sunday off and head to NO this Monday. 3 of us have caught on to this year's Purple and wisely took the home Saints to cover 3. MK continues to hold out hope...might change after we lose 31-13 this week.

MR and MK like TEN at BAL - this squad looks pretty damn good to me.

MR with a sneaky pick in taking SEA at +7 at NYG...I like it.

JR and JG agree on 4 of the NFL picks this week: SAINTS, NE, CHI, INDY
How can you not bet against the Lions? Oh wait, MR took the Lions this week...interesting. Based on how things have gone for him this year, they show up and house the Bears 35-0.

MK also like the Pats at SF...why all the love for SF? They still look brutal to me.

MK continues to ride the most exciting team in football, the DEN Broncos at -3 hosting a very under the radar TB team this weekend.

MK also likes the JAGS at -4 hosting the Steelers on SUN NIGHT. I like PITT to cover that one...23-20 JAX.

JR took BUF as a road dog at AZ, MR likes the CARDS.

UPSET PICKS OF THE WEEK - NFL STYLE (dogs that will win outright)
Tough to pick these, but I thought I'd try:
TB +3 at DEN - no defense = no win
BUF +1.5 at AZ
BAL +3 hosting TEN - I still like TEN I think, but this one should come down to the wire. How impressive is Joe Flacco!?!? What I wouldn't do to have someone like that wearing Purple right now...the other Purple I guess.

That's all we've got for this week. This is your last chance to study hard and take it all in before the big trip next Friday - good luck!!

Go Gophs!!
