Week 9 Picks

Week #9 of the season is already underway, unfortunately the 3 of you who went with BOISE on Tuesday night are already 0-1...hopefully not the trend for the week ahead.

JR: VIR, PUR, SOMISS, UCLA, NEB, OREST, SMU, MISST, MN!, OK
JG: FSU, NW, OKST, TN, NEB, MSU, AUB, STAN, ORE, MN!
MR: BOISE, NW, LOU, OKST, MIZZ, IOWA, AUB, ARK, ORE, OHIOST
AW: FSU, NW, WKY, MIZZ, OREST, A&M, GEO, SJST, TEX, MICH
GR: FSU, NW, ND, NEB, MSU, AUB, STAN, ORE, OHIOST, UNLV
MH: NW, PUR, NEB, MSU, GEO, AUB, STAN, ORE, OHIOST, MICH
MC: BOISE, WMU, TEM, OHIO, WKY, UTEP, BUFF, CMU, TROY, EMU
SS: BOISE, WV, NW, MIA, UCLA, OREST, TEX, ORE, MICH, OK
RO: PUR, SOMISS, NILL, NEB, A&M, IOWA, AUB, TEX, USC, PSU

Consensus Picks NCAA
NW - 6
AUB - 5

I'm not in on either of these and honestly, I would probably go against them both if I had to pick these games. Both road favs against "Bad" teams...but I wouldn't underestimate Indiana or Ole Miss at home. Dangerous spots for both of these teams.

JR: BUF, STL, DEN, NYJ, NO
JG: BUF, JAC, NYJ, TEN, IND
MR: BUF, MIA, DET, MIN, PIT
AW: MIA, WAS, NE, OAK, IND
GR: BUF, MIA, NYJ, NE, PIT
MH: MIA, WAS, NYJ, NE, IND
MC: CIN, DET, SF, OAK, NO
SS: NYJ, SD, NE, PIT, IND
RO: CIN, WAS, DEN, OAK, IND

Consensus Picks
BUF - 4
NYJ - 5
IND - 5

I love all of these and picked 2 of the 3 myself. INDY on MNF was on my list, but I backed off just thinking that HOU might play them close as usual and make it a 3 pt game.

CONTROVERSIAL PICKS
- 3 guys on the NOLES tonight with nobody on Thursday Night home dog NCST...can you guess which way I'm leaning? But I don't think I've won a THUR game all year, so take it for what it's worth!

- MR takes LOU +11 at PITT...love it.

- Zooker still has no believers, 3 of us on PUR at +15 with nobody on the Illini

- Late line addition so nobody picked it, but how about KAN +19 at the Clones coming off the biggest win for them maybe ever?! Bet KAN heavy!!

- Another great home dog play, UCLA +10 hosting ARIZONA...2 teams coming off blowouts sets up perfect for the Bruins.

- MIZZ coming off their own program changing W going to Lincoln...uh-oh...NEB wins by 3 TD's!

- CAL is a flakey road team off a huge home win going to OREST...Beavers roll.

- Split on MSU-IOWA...you know who I'm pulling for, but I can't see the Sparty miracle getting past this one. IOWA wins, but I would bet nothing on this line.

- World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party means almost nothing this week, but I just can't go against FLA getting points.

- 3 on TEX to cover a TD vs. BAY at home...can you believe this is only 7? My how these programs have changed course this season. I still would pick the Horns to take this one with their D.

- 3 on STAN at WASH giving 7.5...scares the hell out of me. WASH has been a zig-zagger all year, and it's time for their zig being at home against a good team...this will be close.

- Nobody went on the UTAH at AF +7 game...I think I'd go AF, I just think UTAH is due for a let down (finally! they have covered every game this year!) and AF will play well at home and off the blowout against TCU.

- ORE-USC +6.5, RO likes the Trojans while 5 are on the Ducks. This will be another one to add to the upset Saturday list as I think the Trojans will be very very ready to play. They still have the athletes, just less depth. But I think they feel like they owe ORE a kick to the balls, so I look for a HUGE day from Barkley and a Trojan cover with the potential for a close outright win.

- COL at OK -24...I thought everyone would pick this one. OK off a bad loss, COL couldn't win on the road if they were playing at LeRoy-Ostrander, OK will score in the 60's and the Buffs might not break the 10's.

SWEATER VEST at HORTON 2.0
Game 2 of 5 in the Horton regime ranks up there as #2 on the importance list (after the hated Hogeyes of course). But this is an ABC Regional Night game and could be a BIG BIG BIG deal if the squad can pull off a miracle. Can it be done? Well, I wouldn't count on it...but I'm thinking it is possible. OHIOST is missing 3 starters from their secondary and their Top LB/leading tackler...these are good things for Horton. Pryor is lethal and has torched us the last couple of years, but they have 3 tough games left after this that could still make or break their season so I'm playing on the hope that they'll be overlooking the little rebuilding club that plays at the Bank. I have no doubt that the Buckeyes will score plenty of points, although they aren't a real explosive team that can score in a hurry without the benefit of turnovers and short fields. So our plan need to be to take advantage of our new found aggressive play calling and their depleted defense and try to get a spark early. Have we ever played with a lead? Not that I can remember. But it might be a good time to start. How about AWEB over the top to our tall WR's for about 3 TD's and a little trickeration for another one.

OHIOST 34 MN 28 - easiest cover ever...and we'll score last!!

NFL PICKS
Here's where the money is made...take these to the bank:

BUF +10 at KC - Chiefs on letdown, Bills hungry for a W and I get 10 points. Yep.

JAC +7.5 at DAL - Kitna sucks, Cowboys are tanking, Jags might have a real QB back and I think they could win this thing outright after getting routed last Sunday.

STL -3 vs. CAR - CAR got their W, they can exhale...STL lost a tough one, but they play really well at home, and Bradford is already 10x the QB that Moore is. Go RAMS

MIA +1 at CIN - Bungals might be toast. Fins are very tough on the road and I think they'll be uber motivated after the robbery last week. Fins win in a tough-guy town like CIN with their running game and defense.

DET -0 vs. WAS - Stafford back? WAS overrated? I think yes on both of these. Plus DET off a bye and they are not that bad. Give me Lions to win.

DEN -0 vs. SF - in London, Troy Smith is the 49ers QB, DEN just lost a rivalry game by 50 points...need anything else? Broncos big.

NYJ -5.5 vs. GB - emotional bullshit win for the Pack, JETS off a bye. GB can't run or pass block (against real DE's at least) and Rodgers might die this week. I think GB gets behind and basically just punts this week to try and heal up. The least important games for all NFL teams is the cross division road games, especially off a tough W and looking forward to ending the 'Boys season next week and then getting a much needed bye. The JETS are healthy, refreshed off a bye, and ready to steam roll this poor one-dimensional offense.

TEN +3 at SD - Chargers have gone in the tank. TEN looking forward to a bye, won 3 in a row all in impressive fashion...that trend will continue. SD is 2-5 and need to get one before the bye in 2 weeks (at HOU next week), but I think that close call last week sealed the deal on this team. And I'm pissed at them. Go TITANS!

TB +3 at ARI - Morris thinks TB is the best team in the NFC, while I won't go that far, I think they are superior to a shitty Cardinals team. TB has played great on the road, ARI has surprisingly won both of their home games...but I think they fold.
Scratch that pick - I'll take ARI...don't bet on this game.

OAK -0 vs. SEA - another pick'em. SEA sucks on the road, unless Cutler gives them 4 turnovers and don't look now but the Raiders are playing some good football. I think it continues.

NO -0 vs. PIT - I'm taking the Aints here. Ben and company have not had it together since his return, and NO will be the more desperate team here by far. Playing at home off a bad blowout loss and need to keep pace under the light on Sunday Night...Saints have to be the right side here.

IND -5.5 vs. HOU - touched on this one earlier, but I can't possibly bet against Peyton in the evening...he just doesn't lose folks. HOU still looks like a fraud, but they play INDY tight so it might be closer...but I'll go INDY on this one.

DUMB COACH at BRILLIANT COACH
Well, I definitely think we're starting at a disadvantage before this thing even kicks off because our coach is a tard and Belichick is the best in the business. NE is in position for a letdown coming off 2 big wins over major AFC competition, so they might have their guard down a bit. But with Moss coming back, and with Chilly's apparent trash talking, I think Bill will be up for embarassing our squad this week. The Favre question is a tough one - I have to go with the thought that he'll be playing unless his foot actually falls off...so we'll say he plays. The whole world think/knows we are a trainwreck right now, so pretty much everyone is betting against us. Even though the Pats have a weak pass D and our passing offense can be the best in the biz when it's clicking. The consensus pick in our pool is the Pats, the whole world likes the Pats...

MN 23 NE 24

Another close loss, and this season appears to be over...until #7 comes off the bench next week to spark 9 wins in a row and get this team into the playoffs. Maybe this whole Favre thing is all just motivation to get T-Jack jump started and allow him to be our leader. Maybe. If it gets ugly this week, I think the old man will sit down and maybe stay down...but he hasn't helped us a whole lot so far this year so it might not be the worst thing that could happen.

Enjoy the weekend Guys - it start tonight!!

FAU Analyst Meltdown

Even though our ARKST Vegas bet was signed, sealed, and delivered by this point...FAU Analyst guy had one of the best booth meltdowns ever.

You need to listen to this.

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/27/fau-radio-guy-with-an-epic-on-air-meltdown/

This also got me thinking about guys taking their shirts off and being angry at a game...I totally forgot about this in the Vikes-Pack drunken haze, but do you guys remember the annoying MMA Billionaire guy who was with us on the Vikes bet taking his shirt on and off like 5 times during the Purple game?!? I just remembered that...what a weirdo. Let's make sure and invite him to be in our group next year!

Don't forget - picks due tomorrow.

Vegas 2010

Waiting to head home...great time like always. Thought JG was a goner
on Sunday morning. But turns out he just was playing on tired legs. MN
teams continue to lose on Vegas weekend. Except the Pups!! Big
winner!! Nobody lost big nobody won big, we celebrated a Vikes win
even though it turned out to be false...still an awesome game to
watch. I gave some sweet 4 game parlay advice to an annoying d-bag and
went 0-4...that was fun. Same tard was on Purple with us and lost more
on that game than we all lost t he whole weekend...kind of made it
worth it. Hilton overall was a D hotel. Great food and great book, but
super brutal clientele. Lots of beef jerky...which wasn't nice. Pai
Gow poker = winners. Craps was crap, right Mike. Watching Iowa fags
cringe was worth the trip all by itself. Same time next year let's do
it again!!

Coaching Search

Well, the search is underway and it seems to me that we are taking a serious approach to it this time.

1. We've hired Chuck Neinas, an NCAA FB Coach headhunter, who has the rep for being the absolute best in the business. If you have a great coach and you are a BCS program, chances are this guy had a hand in it. This is very un-Gopherlike.

2. Mike Leach has come out and said he likes the MN program but hadn't really thought about it. He says he really doesn't have any options at this point and would be open to anything.

I'm not going to come out and say, "Yes Please Hire Leach Now!" But damn it would make things in Dinkytown REALLY interesting. The Pirate would cause quite a stir in the old grind it out 3 yards at a time league that hasn't seen an offense like that in a long time...maybe ever. I don't necessarily have a clear #1 in my mind right now - but our willingness to spend money and shoot for the moon and realize that this needs to be the engine that drives the entire University is refreshing. I never thought they they actually realized that reality. It gives me hope and optimism...lots of it. But we'll see who they actually come up with.

Like I said, I don't have anybody on my must get list, but I definitely have a few "Please God stay the hell away from these guys or my Gopher fandom may be in question" kind of guys.

#1 Marc Trestman - CFL HC
Serisouly, this guys name has come up for every open HC or OC position on both MN football teams for the last 20 years, and I'm not exaggerating. He's in the f'ing CFL right now! Don't you think that should tell you something! There are 32 NFL teams and 120 D1 NCAA teams with HC/OC positions open all the time and NONE of them went for Mr. Trestman. Spare me the MN angle...this would be an epic fail.

#2 Paul Chryst - WIS OC
Enough with the Becky retreads. Brew only hired about 6 of them for his staff over 3.5 years, don't you think we can try to do our own thing over here instead of becoming WIS West? Why is this guy a genius again? Oh yeah, he runs a basic offense for an established team and fields mediocre results every year...yep, hire him on the spot. Anyone with immediate WIS ties must be crossed off the list right now.

#3 Mike Grant - EP HIGH SCHOOL HC...HIGH SCHOOL!
I really hope it doesn't get any further than the dumb, uninformed MN football fan dreaming of this as the perfect fit, but it is Maturi so you never know. I get the family ties, great. But the guy coaches a dominant MN HS Football team - his next step, should he ever want to leave, should be NDSU or some other pretend program like that...not a BCS D1 Football team, at least not as a HC. I can't even begin to imagine what a laughing stock we'd be on this hire. You thought people made fun of the program for Brew...

The list I made about 3 weeks ago is very similar to other lists I've seen around this morning. I think you have to shoot for the moon and try and find yourself a major player on the national scene. That should be the first step. If it doesn't work out, tier 2 should be the under the radar guys that are waiting to pop and be the next big thing...Brady Hoke of SDST comes to mind here. The NFL angle might work out for someone like Frasier, but I would prefer to get a college guy to coach my college team. The NFL to NCAA transitions and vice versa have just not worked that well in the past with very few exceptions.

This will likely be a weekly rant until this thing is figured out, but the next 5+ years of my squad depend on this hire. Can we finally make a splash? I'm optimistic.

Ready for Vegas....Monday Morning Standings Check

11-0-2 in NFL yesterday...Vegas trip looks like it's coming 1 week too late!

JR: 11-3 +TEN
JG: 7-8
MR: 13-2 - not bad - ROE appears to be in VEGAS form as well
AW: 10-5
GR: 8-7
MH: 8-7
MC: 8-6 +TEN
SS: 8-6 +TEN
RO: 9-6

Full update tomorrow...but my god did we house the NFL picks this week, maybe an all-time record.

Saturday, October 16, 2010

It's official

We are coachless. Pressed on Sunday. Boy, these next 5 games should be
some inspired football. Also heard Maturi is dead at the end of the
year ~ June 30...but he'll still be responsible for the next hire.
Although I'm sure his powers will be limited and he will have lots of
help.

End of an era...thank god.

Hot Rumor!!!

Word has it an L at PUR = BREW fired immediately...

Now I'm not one to ever cheer against my club or hope for them to lose, but if there was ever a reason to slightly lean the other way this would be it.

My question is why should beating PUR or not beating PUR determine his fate?

I think he should win the next 2, then have the same ultimatum on the table for OCT 30th against The Ohio State...that would be the true test...and it would mean I could be there for the swan song.

Great thing is, if he gets fired before next week's Vegas trip game I won't have to pack the 4 paper bags for us to wear over our heads...so we have that going for us, which is nice.

Basically, we can't win this weekend. A loss sucks, but nets a new coach. A win is a win (woo-hoo!) but forces another Vegas weekend of Brewster Ball...yikes.

The ultimate double edged sword.

I think I've officially had zero correct Thursday predictions this

And that's it. I didn't pick it, but I like it. This team doesn't like to lose, so I'm guessing they'll rebound quite nicely.

NFL PICKS

Consensus Picks
NYJ - 4
OAK - 4
MIN - 7!
IND - 6

I have 3 of these in my hand this week...a guaranteed 1-2 or 2-1 but no chance at a 3-0 is my guess. I like the IND pick as well. Whatever happens, let's hope the most popular pick isn't the one to fail...we have to win this week, right?!?!

HEADSCRATCHER OF THE WEEK
The most popular Football Challenge topic is back after a 1 week hiatus. This week I'll pick on my buddy MR. He has MISST at +8.5 at FLA, now let me tell you why this can't possibly be the right side in this thing. FLA at home against an inferior team coming of 2! straight losses, unheard of in Gainesville. They also have the revenge factor of nearly getting embarassed in Starkville last year against their former OC Dan Mullen, the head man at MISST. The number is good for MISST, but I have to believe that FLA is going to explode one of these weeks - and after 2 straight L's and a major letdown against LSU last week in a fluky last second loss...the time is now! FLA 38 MISST 14

THURSDAY NIGHT PREVIEW
I looked back over the last 2 years of weeknight games, and on those nights where there is more than 1 game here were the results: 1 dog and 1 fav covered each time except for 3 weeks out of about 20 occurances. 17 of 20 is a nice %, so the question is which dog and which fav do we go with tonight.

First, we have a rivalry game - KST at KAN with a home dog in this one. The other is USF at WV getting 11.5. Standard logic would say pick both home teams, one is a dog and one is a fav...can't lose. Well, I have looked through multiple angles on both of these and came to the conclusion of liking both dogs...but since I have to play the odds and pick one of each I'll take KAN +3.5 and WV -11.5.

SC at UK - the ultimate letdown game!
How am I the only one on UK this week? Has there ever been a bigger letdown spot in the history of football? Well, that's probably a stretch, but seriously...SC beats the best team in the nation in a huge emotional win that might finally push Spurrier over the top at SC and make some national noise, and now they go on the road to a pesky UK team as a 6 pt fav. Yikes. UK just played AUB to a FG last week, and they have some fire power (36 ppg). SC is likely 6 pts better than UK in Lexington, but under these circumstances, I think that it's impossible for them to play at their usual level this week and UK will be desperate for an SEC win at 0-3 in conference. The lines are correct, it's all about choosing who will over play or under play their potential in a given week...and this week SC will be down.

TEXAS as a 9.5 point dog is just too juicy not to try. I know NEB has looked great, but getting one of the Top 15 teams in the country with 9.5 points is a nice spot.

CAL will beat USC. I didn't play it, but it would make my VEGAS list if that was this week. USC is bad, CAL plays really well on D and should have no problem scoring on USC. USC and 3 straight L's...sounds funny.

HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!
My guy Shoelace has a chance this week to really get some Heisman attention. I'll call for him to get 450 total yards and beat IOWA. Not a lot to back this up, more of just pure hope...because WHO HATES IOWA?...I HATE IOWA!!!

BYU is getting 29.5 at TCU...wow, that might be a record. Only RO touched this one, which means nobody knows what the hell to think...including me. How has it gotten this bad this fast at Mormon U?

OHIOST-WIS
Becky isn't that good, but they'll get up for this spot against Brutus. 6 points too much, I think TPRY will have his moments and still win this game, but a BECKY cover is very likely. They need to save their best effort for next week against the Hogeyes!

BOISE giving anything is a good bet. They might work their way into a weekly play for me no matter who they are playing or how high the number is. 39 this week on the road...I'm not afraid. BOISE 77 SJST 13.

HAW continues to get points when it shouldn't. I know NEV is a nice little club, but seriously with an O/U of 74, neither team should be favored by 8. HAW covers and win this one outright making people in BOISE cry again.

Absolutely loving a lot of NCAA plays this week...finally. I've been off a lot lately on NCAA, so time to pick it up.

NFL
Opinions for every game on SUN/MON

ATL-PHI: I'm going upset on this, ATL is cruising too much and trying to separate themselves in the NFC, which isn't possible. PHI wins outright.

CLE-PIT: If you're not picking PIT in a suicide pool this week you are on crack. Even at 13 I'm in love with PIT against Colt McCoy.

SEA-CHI: SEA off a bye, and they have a great coach (I don't care what you think about Carroll, he's great). Bears had no business winning last week, now Dopey the Dwarf is back running the show...and they'll lose outright.

DET-NYG: NYG are valued too high, DET is not as bad as it seems...play the LIONS.

BAL-NE: toughest call of the week for me. NE off a BYE is LETHAL! But BAL should be able to exploit their porous pass D. But I hate going against Belichick off a BYE...take the Friggin' Pats.

SD-STL: SD on the road. STL off a bad blowout against the LIONS...getting 9.5...I should have put this one in my picks. STL may have a chance to win.

MIA-GB: will this game even happen? Still no line on it. Did A-RODGERS die? Is Don Majakowski his back-up? Will the Packers be trying out players up until gametime in hopes of fielding a full roster? I'll take MIAMI.

NO-TB: NO has covered just as many times as I have this year, which would be never. But they continue to give points on the road. Well, I picked TB last week, and I think they lost all their magic. NO has to get it figured out...not convinced that it's this week...but I'll call for a slim cover.

KC-HOU: another straight up upset call for me. KC is a good looking team. They run the ball well and play a lot of D. HOU are who we thought they were. Flashy offense, lack of D, mediocre team. I'll take KC with points to win.

NYJ-DEN: NYJ off a MNF game on the road, typically a trap spot, but I think the difference between these teams is so large that I can't give DEN a chance in this thing. NYJ will roll once again and they might kill Orton, which would mean we could all be blessed with the chosen one in a starting QB role next week!! That makes me giddy...think of the Vegas props that would be out for a Tebow start next week. Please make this happen. Pick JETS.

OAK-SF: SF is still 0-5 and terrible. But they are giving 8 points at home to a decent Raider team? WTF? Bet RAIDERS HEAVY!!

IND-WAS: Peyton at night...21-3. Only giving a FG to a slightly overrated WAS team...yep, take INDY.

TEN-JAC: This seems like one of the best plays on the board. JAC is not a good team, they've won 2 in a row by blowout fashion (ATS) and you can't do that 3 weeks in a row in the NFL. They'll draw 4200 people for this MNF game, and TEN is one of my sneaky teams that I love. Pick TEN.

Okay - now for the 2 biggest games of the weekend.

LAME DUCK BREW at BOILER UP
Well, I'm not really sure at all about what kind of an effort we'll get in this one. The team had chances last week but looked defenseless when it mattered in the 2nd half. The BOILERS beat NW in a close one, although they have yet to look really good all year long. Our offense is boring, but it's not the problem. Their offense just plain sucks. So it's strength against strength and weakness against weakness in this thriller that will feature both BOB and BRIAN Griese in the booth together for the 1st time...fun stuff. I'll expect a bad offense to even move the ball on a bad defense, and I'll expect a good defense to put the clamps on an average offense...both bad things if you're a Gopher fan. Plus the karma that the great BOB Griese will give to his alma mater and the seemingly endless string of ineptitude he has brought us over the last couple of years...this might be bad. So bad that we can be getting over 2 TD's at home against PSU next week? Maybe not, but that's what I'm thinking about.

GOPHERS 23 BOILERS 33
We can't stop anyone...ever.

LAME DUCK PHILLIPS at Coach Favr...I mean CHILLY
I can't come up with any way that the Purple lose this game. Despite the negativity coming out of MNF, I thought we really figured a lot of things out. Our passing game looked like it was 2009 again, and I think our D is a lot better than it's getting credit for at this point. The 'Boys are a ticking time bomb that will be set to detonate at 1-5 with losses to MIN and NYG in the next 2 weeks. Call me out if I'm wrong on this one, but I love the Purple. I made 1 Bodog bet this weekend...entire bankroll on Purple -1.5 (not that my bankroll is large any more with my consistent losing, but it sounds good, right).

PURPLE 31 'BOYS 21

We're comin'! We're comin'!!

Standings through Week 6

Parody at its finest...someone needs a big week to take control of this thing.

OVERALL
MC 46 44 51.1%
RO 46 44 51.1%
JG 46 44 51.1%
GR 46 44 51.1%

MR 45 45 50.0%
SS 45 45 50.0%
JR 44 46 48.9%
AW 43 47 47.8%

3 games separate first and worst...everyone is very average right now.
We hit 42.9% this week...let's forget it and move on. At 50.1% for the year.

NFL
AW 14 11 56.0%
JG 13 12 52.0%
MR 13 12 52.0%
MH 13 12 52.0%

GR 13 12 52.0%
JR 12 13 48.0%
RO 11 14 44.0%
MC 10 15 40.0%
35.5% for NFL this week - wow, that's brutal. Who wins, us vs. a retarded turtle at picking NFL games...odds are with the turtle. We're at 49.8% for the year.

NCAA
MC 36 29 55.4%
RO 35 30 53.8%
GR 33 32 50.8%
JG 33 32 50.8%
MH 32 33 49.2%
MR 32 33 49.2%
JR 32 33 49.2%
SS 32 33 49.2%
AW 29 36 44.6%
46.6% in NCAA this week - another big loser, although not as pathetic as our NFL picks. We are at 50.3% for the year.

Good news is, it should only get better. I mean we've seen what every team has to offer at this point, now we just need to pick the right games. And everyone is still alive for the big prize with such a small margin between 1st and 9th.

Get back on the horse - week 7 lines coming later today.

Week 6 Update

One big game to go for the week - here's how we stand:

AW: 7-7 +MIN
GR: 8-7
MH: 5-9 +MIN
MC: 5-10

Lots of mediocrity this week. Vikes win would push 3 more of us over .500 for the week.

One note - ROB didn't make his picks this week because he had a new baby girl, so his brother is pinch-hitting. Congrats Rob! DVR some games to keep you busy for that 3am shift!

GOPHERS at BECKY (Tree in enemy forest)
I think the line is too high. As bad as we've played, I don't think you can expect to lose a rivalry game by 3 TD's. The team should continue to build on the minor improvements we saw last week and be able to score at least 3 times on this average WIS D. For the Becky, it's homecoming and they are coming off a bad L to Sparty. Their hopes and dreams of a National Title (haha!) are still hanging by a thread and they could be out for blood. But they likely know that a 55-7 beatdown of my squad could lead to us actually making a move and hiring a competent coach and become more of an actual "rival" in these rivalry games. I don't think they want this, so they toy with us and give up another patented Gopher cheapy at the end for a cover.

WIS 38 MIN 20

MOSS FEVER at Rex F*cking Ryan
Could ESPN have drawn this one up any better? Revis returns to face his rival #84, who is returning home to the Purple. Favre coming back to play the Jets. S.Holmes making his debut so Sancheese actually has a legit #1 WR. All the pieces are there for a great MNF experience...but I'm afraid it won't click this fast for the New Purple. 84 will probably get one TD, because that's what he does, but I think NYJ will come through at home. Although this one will be closer than the experts think (wink, wink).

NYJ 20 MIN 17

I'm absolutely in love with my NFL picks once again this week. I might have to change allegiance from my beloved NCAA Football to that of the NFL if this continues to be where the easy money is at.

Picks I LOVE this week in the NFL:
Obviously, my 5 from the top + KC covering 9, DEN covering 8, OAK covering 5.5, and SF getting a W and covering the -3.5

Love lots of DOGS this week - Aints and Falcons are best FAV plays out there.

But lock of the CENTURY for this week is BUF to win #1 hosting JAC. We have mixed action on it, but I am convinced that BUF will get it done at home.

I'll try and send off a pic or 2 from Madison, hopefully I return will full body function and a notch above Becky in the standings!! A guy can dream, right?!?

Good Luck.

Let me know if anyone wants action on this tonight. It's UCF -12 for a line. I'm guessing you'll all be picking it since there is nothing else going on in Minnesota today or the rest of this week.

Week 6 Lines

Here we go for another week. We have a TUES, WED, THUR, and 2 FRI games this week...send me mid-week picks early if you want in on any of them. Otherwise, send me your 10 NCAA and 5 NFL picks by Noon on THURSDAY. I likely won't be able to get the update out until FRIDAY this week because I'm being forced to watch the Twins beat the Skanks on Thursday...don't hate me.

Week 5 through the weekend

Here's how the weekend turned out with 7 of you all on the PATS tonight...

JR: 8-7
JG: 10-5 (clearly my motivation worked!)
MR: 8-6
AW: 5-9 (worked the inverse for Bomb as well...sorry)
GR: 5-9
MH: 5-9
MC: 6-8
SS: 9-5
RO: 7-7

I sucked something awful with my college picks this week...again. But I think I've figured out everything in the NFL...5-0 in pool games and 11-2 overall ATS plus winning my 17 guy pick'em pool. After being ready to quit betting altogether with Saturday's results I think I'm going to push forward with lots of NFL plays from now on!

I got the Fins on MNF tonight, but the Moss/Brady vs. brutal secondary is scary. I think the Fins adopt the Brew USC Ball Control offense and hold the ball for 45 minutes and win a thriller 23-21.
